Centre of Latin American Studies

The Simón Bolívar Chair in Latin American Studies

The Simón Bolívar Chair in Latin American Studies was established in 1968 with a grant from the Venezuelan government for the purpose of bringing a distinguished Latin American scholar or intellectual each year to Cambridge. Like all other Professors in the University, each holder of the Chair is assigned to the Faculty most appropriate to his or her academic interests and is elected a Fellow of a College. The Professor is also usually closely associated with the work of the Centre.
