This clip shows Sor Juana's forced abjuration, and is from the end of the film. She is forced to read out a declaration of self-humiliation, and stumbles over the words. What happens next is perhaps the most shocking moment of the film, as Sor Juana's gaze, signifier of her intelligence and right of access to knowledge, is destroyed by her own hand. The words in the final shot, signed in blood, read "Yo, la peor de todas" (I, the worst woman of all), superimposed over a shot of her empty bookshelves.
Note: recent versions of Internet Explorer should be able to play the clips without problems.
