Research Facilities at the Centre of Latin American Studies

Postgraduate students at the Centre of Latin American Studies have access to excellent research facilities across the university.

The Cambridge University Library is one of the largest libraries in the world, with over 6 million volumes, many of which are on open access shelves. The Centre of Latin American Studies has its own library of over 12,500 volumes, housed within the Seeley Library on the Sidgwick Site, very close to the Centre. Our specialist librarian, Chiara Campioni, is available to help with queries and students are welcome to make requests for new purchases.

There is also a large film collection located in the Centre's own Audiovisual Suite, which is a major research resource for students and scholars working on Latin American cinema in Cambridge and beyond.

Your college will provide free computing facilities, including internet and email, and the University Computing Service runs a number of free courses in skills relevant to research methods and presentation.

For those of you wishing to improve your Spanish or Portuguese (or any other language), the Language Centre provides free courses in major European languages, state-of-the-art audiovisual facilities for you to study over 140 different languages, a reference and film library and a wealth of information and advice.

The Mexican Society and the Hispanic Society feature among the many active clubs and societies which operate at a university level. They regularly arrange visiting speakers, film screenings and social events.

A wealth of other facilities and services are available to students across the university, including the University Careers Service, which offers a comprehensive and independent careers guidance and placement service to current and former students.
