Optional Modules

Centre of Latin American Studies

Development and Policy in Latin America

This module takes a more normative approach to development, inquiring into the ways that policies, and empirical approaches to politics and development work, have had unintended effects or interact with lived realities. Sessions investigate historical approaches to industrialisation, newer social policies, the Washington Consensus and populism. In addition, much newer concerns such as the digitisation of government will be discussed.
